Founded in 2006, the Stone Bratt Big Band (SBBB) is the inspiration of two friends, Doug Bratt and Doug Stone, who met in college as members of the acclaimed Northern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble. Comprised of musician friends from NIU and the greater Chicago jazz scene, for over two years the SBBB performed monthly in Chicago as well as at the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Chicago Jazz Festival Club Tour, Moraine Valley Community College, and Northern Illinois University.
In 2008 the group released their full-length debut album, Stone Bratt Big Band, which is available through Apple Music and Spotify.
Currently, Doug Stone serves as Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Doug Bratt serves as Professor of Music at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. Beyond the SBBB, Stone, Bratt, and the band’s members remain active performing regularly at major venues around the world and sharing their knowledge and passion for music at K-12 schools, colleges, and universities throughout the country.
